Orion Systems Group Completes Headquarters Relocation for Government Agency

Fairfax, VA, October 7, 2008 - Orion Systems Group announces the completion of a state-of-the-art access control and video security program for a recently constructed DoD facility in the Washington DC Metropolitan region.

OSG’s deployment included the configuration of the access control system to operate both legacy Common Access Cards (CAC) and the next-generation CAC cards to the meet the mandates of Homeland Security Presidential Direction 12 (HSPD-12).

In addition to the capabilities and functionality of the legacy CAC technology, the next-generation CAC program allows for the use of a contactless technology for physical access that increases the speed for identity authentication and improves the ability to manage heavy traffic flow into the system. The next-generation CAC adds biometrics in the form of a digital photo and two index fingerprints, stored as minutiae templates. The minutiae templates are a mathematical representation of the data points unique to each set of biometrics and provide the ability to positively bind the individual to his or her credential.

OSG was also responsible for the deployment of comprehensive digital video surveillance, intercommunication, and intrusion detection systems that are utilized to enhance security at the perimeter of the facility as well as strategic interior locations.

The security management systems operate via the IP data network to provide a centralized operation with efficient programming, monitoring, storage, and search capabilities.
