Orion Systems Group Awarded Design/Build Contract for 1.6 Million Sq. Ft. Constitution Square Mixed-Use Development

Constitution SquareFairfax, VA, September 15, 2008 - Owner/developer StonebridgeCarras has partnered with OSG to provide an integrated security management system for their massive Constitution Square project in NoMa.

Constitution Square is a mixed-use development consisting of two LEED-certified office towers with 900,000 square feet, 80,000 square feet of retail, 440 Class A apartment units, and a 204-room Hilton Hotel. Anchoring the project is the U.S. Department of Justice which will be leasing more than 520,000 square feet and house 2,000 employees.

Early in the design process the development team recognized OSG offered the required experience, infrastructure, and technological expertise to execute the design and implementation of a project of this size and scope. OSG will be responsible to design, deploy, maintain, and monitor a comprehensive security management platform encompassing controlled access, visitor management, parking management, digital video, and intrusion detection systems.

OSG’s design incorporates a scalable open architecture platform featuring touch-screen technology, HSPD-12 compliant readers, and IP enabled access control and digital video.

The Constitution Square project will be the centerpiece for the District’s redevelopment of NoMA. "NoMa is no longer emerging. This groundbreaking marks the realization of the District’s vision for a truly mixed-use community," Washington, DC, Mayor Adrian Fenty said in a statement. "The location of a major federal agency, a Harris Teeter grocery store, a Hilton hotel and new residential at a single project in a single phase is beyond our expectations."

Upon completion of all phases the total site will contain over 2 million square feet and will encompass an entire city block. The office buildings are anticipated to be delivered in the first half of 2010, the residential and retail is targeted for completion in late 2010 and early 2011.

StonebridgeCarras' joint venture partner in the project is Walton Street Capital of Chicago. HOK Architects designed the office portion, while SK&I Architectural Group designed the retail, residential and hospitality space. Clark Construction is the general contractor.
