KFC Yum! CenterFairfax, VA, October 10, 2010 - The official opening of the new, state of the art KFC Yum! Center was marked with a ceremonial ribbon cutting on Sunday, October 10. During the event, Mortenson Construction senior vice president, John Wood, handed the keys over to representatives from the Louisville Arena Authority and Kentucky State Fair Board. The Fair Board will manage the new 721,762 square foot facility that is the official home of the University of Louisville men's and women's basketball teams.

"The Kentucky State Fair Board wants to be at the forefront of technology in our state-of-the-art facilities," explains Alicia Dunlap, director of division of information technology for the Kentucky State Fair Board. "At KFC Yum! Center, we want all athletes, sporting personnel, performers, event staff, fans and visitors to feel safe and secure both within and around the facility." Orion Systems Group successfully delivered an enterprise-class IP video and access control systems on time and budget, ensuring solid security for the Arena's first event, an Eagles concert, on October 16th.

About KFC Yum! Center

The KFC Yum! Center is a $252 million, 22,000-seat basketball and multipurpose arena on the Ohio River waterfront in Louisville, Kentucky. The project is part of a $450 million project that included a 975-car parking structure and floodwall. The University of Louisville men's and women's basketball teams will be the primary tenants in the arena complex, however, conventions, ice shows, and collegiate sport championships would also use the facility. It is the fifth largest college basketball arena in the nation. The facility is owned by the Louisville Arena Authority and operated by the Kentucky State Fair Board.
