Orion Systems Group Awarded 5-Year Blanket Purchase Agreement for Nation’s Capital
BPA Covers Multiple MPD Facilities
Fairfax, VA, April 12, 2010 - Orion Systems Group has been awarded a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) by the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and DC Contracting and Procurement to design and deploy a wide range of electronic security initiatives for MPD facilities located through the Nation’s Capital.
One of the ten largest local police agencies in the United States, the MPD is the primary law enforcement agency for the District of Columbia. Founded in 1861, the MPD of today is on the forefront of technological crime fighting advances, from highly developed advances in evidence analysis to state-of the-art-information technology. These modern techniques are combined with a contemporary community policing philosophy, referred to as Customized Community Policing, to improve the quality of life for all who live, work, and visit the Nation's Capital.
In order to achieve its mission the MPD realizes the importance of establishing a secure and technologically advanced environment for its more than 4,400 members – including approximately 3,800 sworn police officers and more than 600 civilian employees. “Orion Systems Group is proud to have been selected by MPD as the right partner to transition security systems spanning 1.5 million sq. ft. of space from disparate stand-alone analog systems to an enterprise-class IP based centralized security management architecture that will manage multiple security functions across all MPD facilities” said Paul Garver, President of Orion Systems Group.
