Orion Systems Group Awarded Contract for $252 Million Louisville Arena
System certification enables company to monitor and service U.S. government facilities
Louisville, KY, January 5th, 2010 - The Louisville Arena Authority and M.A. Mortenson have selected Orion Systems Group to design and deploy a comprehensive IP security management platform for the Louisville Waterfront Arena. The Louisville Arena is a $252 million, 22,000-seat basketball and multipurpose arena currently under construction on the Ohio River waterfront at Second and Main Street. The facility is part of a $450 million project that includes a 3-level 760-car parking structure. The University of Louisville men's and women's basketball teams will be the primary tenants in the arena complex, additionally conventions, ice shows, and collegiate sport championships would also use the facility.
Upon completion in November 2010, the 721,000 sq. ft. Arena will be the fifth largest college basketball complex in the nation. The facility will be managed by the Kentucky State Fair Board, a long-standing client of Orion Systems Group and OSG partner EMC. “Orion Systems Group is providing a comprehensive security management solution using the latest in IP video technology and high-definition megapixel cameras all archived to EMC’s advanced storage platform”, said David Taylor, CEO of Orion Systems Group.
OSG’s turnkey deployment includes the provision, installation, and integration of the facility’s smart card access control and alarm management platform. Smart cards will be used to restrict access to authorized personnel at selected door and elevator locations throughout the facility. Additionally, there will be several high-security areas of the Arena that will incorporate the use of biometric readers featuring two-factor authentication.
OSG’s open-architecture platform will be utilized for integration into the facility’s building automation system. All systems will connect to the security command and control center to provide enhanced situational awareness and real-time incident management and control.
